About me

I am a South African born artist currently living and working in Cape Town. I was raised in the UK and completed my artistic training in the USA, and was lucky enough to have access to large and storied collections of artwork. Technical rigour and a focus on craft is integral to my practice. I enjoy referencing and building upon the traditions of historical painting and drawing whilst firmly placing my work in a modern context. This is also foundational to my approach as a teacher, I wish to deliver the essential skills required to execute a painting while encouraging my students to develop their own tastes and sensibilities through observing work that inspires them.

Outside of the studio, I enjoy reading, writing and listening to music, all of which enrich and inform the work that I make.
